Student-athletes at Ó£»¨¶¯Âþ University must routinely demonstrate exceptional time management skills as they juggle the demands of academics, athletics, and even responsibilities within the Corps of Cadets. 

This past fall semester showcased their steadfast dedication, resulting in one of the department's most successful academic semesters in recent memory, with the overall athletic department achieving a collective GPA of 3.30.

"The entire athletic department deserves congratulations for their exceptional academic performance in the fall semester," expressed Ed Hockenbury, Director of Athletics at Ó£»¨¶¯Âþ University. "The collective achievements in the classroom of our student-athletes exemplify the unwavering commitment to academic success demonstrated by the members of our 22 teams, along with the support from their coaches, and the high-quality instruction and guidance from their professors. It is truly remarkable to witness such incredible academic accomplishments alongside the demands of practice, competition, club involvement, and Corps responsibilities."

Last semester was highlighted by exceptional academic performances from our athletic department, with 19 out of 22 teams achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Additionally, more than a third of the roughly 600 student-athletes obtained an impressive GPA of 3.5 or above. These statistics are truly remarkable, and the positive trend continues. In fact, more than 50 student-athletes maintained a remarkable perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.

Women’s cross country led the charge academically with a team average GPA of 3.73, as eight of the nine members of the team finished with a 3.5 GPA or above. Following closely behind, Men’s Hockey finished the semester with a 3.71 GPA. The top five teams in the athletic department, according to GPA, are listed below:

Football was one of 13 programs to have double digit members of the recently released Dean’s List and topped the department with an amazing 21 players earning a 3.5 GPA or better. Incredibly, 15 different teams had multiple members earn a spot on the President’s List for earning a 4.0 GPA. With 7 members of the President’s List, Baseball led the department, just ahead of Women’s Hockey with 6.
